{"id":661599,"date":"2026-03-08T15:40:23","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T19:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wvmetronews.com\/?p=661599"},"modified":"2026-03-08T15:40:23","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T19:40:23","slug":"fire-on-john-amos-power-plant-property","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wvmetronews.com\/2026\/03\/08\/fire-on-john-amos-power-plant-property\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire on John Amos Power Plant property"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WINFIELD, W.Va. <\/strong>&#8212; An investigation is underway after a Sunday morning fire inside an external building at the John Amos Power Plant in Winfield.<\/p>\n<p>Appalachian Power Company said the blaze was contained by local firefighters to the external building.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was no immediate threat to the public. All plant personnel are safe and no injuries were reported. There was no impact to operations or our ability to generate power for customers,&#8221; the company said in a statement forwarded to MetroNews. &#8220;A full investigation into the cause and extent of the damage is underway. We appreciate the swift response of the emergency crews and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The fire was reported at around 5 a.m. Sunday. Winfield fire crews led the response.
