Flood warning remains in effect through early afternoon for Parkersburg, surrounding area

UPDATE 8:30 a.m. Wednesday    The National Weather Service allowed its earlier flood warning to expire at 8:30 a.m. and extended the warning for Wood, Wirt, Jackson, Mason and Pleasants counties until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A flood warning remains in effect for the U.S. Route 50 Corridor from Parkersburg to Clarksburg until 8:30 this morning.

The flood warning covers Wood, Wirt, Ritchie, Doddridge, Harrison, Pleasants, Lewis, Roane, Gilmer, Calhoun and Braxton counties.

The National Weather Service says the South Fork Hughes River in Ritchie County is flooding this morning near MacFarlan.

The weather service has approximately 12 other counties under a flood watch into this afternoon.
