Fire claims 2 lives in Boone County

SETH, W.Va. — A elderly man and woman died in a residential fire early Tuesday morning in Boone County.

Investigators with the state Fire Marshal’s Office said the blaze in the 4000 block of Prenter Road in Seth claimed the lives of a 79-year-old man and 84-year-old woman.

Volunteer firefighters from Racine, Whitesville and Van were on the scene. The call came in around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Fire Marshal’s Office said the cause of the blaze could not be determined because of the severity of the damage.

The bodies of the victims have been taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and autopsies.
