CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for more than two dozen counties through Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy rain began Tuesday afternoon through the mid-section of the state and spreading into the eastern mountain counties.
“Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible,” the NWS watch said.
The counties under the watch include Wayne, Cabell, Mason, Jackson, Wood, Pleasants, Tyler, Lincoln, Putnam, Kanawha, Roane, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie, Doddridge, Boone, Clay, Braxton, Gilmer, Lewis, Harrison, Taylor, Upshur, Barbour, Fayette, Nicholas, Webster, Pocahontas and Randolph counties.
