Man’s body found in Monroe County; state police say it’s a homicide

SHANKLIN’S FERRY, W.Va. — State police are investigating a Monroe County murder.

Troopers said two fishermen discovered a burned out car and a man’s body by the riverbank in the Shanklin’s Ferry area of Monroe County Friday at around 9:40 a.m.

The man has been identified as James Jeffries, 55, of Peterstown.

The death is being treated as a homicide.

An investigation is underway.
