Woman charged with murder after Parkersburg shooting

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A Clarksburg teenager is in custody after being charged by Parkersburg police with shooting and killing a man early Saturday morning.

Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of 40th Street at around 12:10 a.m. and found a man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Police and EMS crews attempted life-saving measures but he man died at the scene.

According to a news release from the Parkersburg Police Department, police soon received information about a possible suspect. Officers took Claudia Torres, 19, of Clarksburg, into custody about a mile from the residence. She has been charged with first degree murder.

Torres was set to be arraigned Saturday morning in Wood County Magistrate Court.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Police are continuing their investigation.
