Delbarton man arrested on sexual abuse charge

MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. –A Mingo County man has been arrested for alleged sexual abuse.

Aaron Stepp, 37, of Delbarton has been charged with sexual abuse by a parent, custodian, or person of trust.

Stepp’s arrest comes after a report on January 27 of alleged sexual abuse which occurred earlier in the month of January.

According to a release from the West Virginia State Police, Senior Trooper Z.K. Bragg of the Williamson Detachment received the complaint. Bragg ended up speaking with the parents of a juvenile victim, who stated they had given Stepp permission to pick up the juvenile from the bus stop when they were unable to do so.

The parents allege that Stepp had picked up the juvenile from the bus stop without their knowledge and took the victim to his residence where the alleged abuse took place.

After an investigation was completed, Bragg obtained an arrest warrant for Stepp. Stepp was taken into custody on March 2 in the Elk Creek area.

Stepp is being held on a $50,000 bond at the Southwestern Regional Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 10 at 9 a.m.
