Pepper spray discharged on Roane County school bus

SPENCER, W.Va. — Roane County school officials said an investigation is underway after a second grader discharged a container of a pepper spray on a school bus Wednesday morning.

EMS crews and the system’s nursing staff checked out the kids on the bus, none were hospitalized.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority. We take this matter very seriously,” a post from the Roane County Schools said. “Law enforcement has been notified and is involved in reviewing the incident. The situation will be handled in accordance with district policy and applicable laws.”

Some of the students impacted were picked up by their parents.
